Stamped Paper Fans

Martha Stewart Living, July 2009

Embellish paper fans as favors for your next get-together. A fireworks pattern is particularly fitting for a Fourth of July bash.

Tools and Materials
White paper fans (cherishedgiftfavors.com)
Assorted stamps and ink pads (similar stamps available from stampin.com)

Stamped Paper Fans How-To
Open a fan, and stamp in a random design or create a border along the top. Let ink dry.

Tip: Arrange fans in a basket or on a platter, and place on the dining table for a pretty, practical centerpiece. Or put a fan at each guest's place setting.

I have hand painted fans like these with a pearlescent finish graduating from a darker shade down to very pale at the bottom and then finished with branches of cherry blossom to give an oriental theme. I have also decorated others by gluing tiny punched out butterfly and flower shapes all over (separately). Bit tedious but effective nontheless.
