Paper Ribbons

If you don't have ribbon on hand, a package doesn't have to go without a bow.
Martha Stewart Living, December 2004

If you don't have ribbon on hand, a package doesn't have to go without a bow. Cut a strip of paper to the desired width and long enough to wrap around the gift, plus 6 inches. With a pencil, mark where the ends overlap. Cut a slit in each side at the pencil mark with scissors. Wrap the strip around the package and slide slits together. Notch the ends. For multiple layers, mark, cut, and then fasten several pieces at once, trimming the ends to varying lengths.
