Dyed Easter Baskets

Why should eggs have all the fun? For one-stop decorating, dye the basket -- and everything inside it -- at once.

Why should eggs have all the fun? For one-stop decorating, dye the basket -- and everything inside it -- at once. A nice bonus: The pretty monochrome nests highlight subtle variations among the eggs.

Tools and Materials
White vinegar
Liquid food coloring (1/4-ounce bottle)
Large, heatproof glass bowl
Wooden baking basket (available at technobake.com)
Raffia
Eggs in different sizes and colors (Quail eggs are available at some Whole Foods markets and through localharvest.org.)

The How-To
1. Combine 16 cups boiling water, 1/2 cup vinegar, and the food coloring in the glass bowl.

2. Soak basket, raffia, and eggs in dye bath. Remove items with kitchen tongs when desired shade is achieved. Let items dry completely on a protected surface.

If you consider to dye an egg you need a cup of water therefore to dye a basket, raffia and eggs you would need alot more water. I think the ingredients are right. It is beautiful and would look wonderful on my dining room table.

It may be a typo. 1/2 c of vinegar to 16 cups of water? Hmmm. But if it is right, I have a Tupperware one called 'the mega bowl' that will. you might have to use a bucket! haha.
