Seashell Night-Light

Martha Stewart Living, August 2001

Substitute the usual plastic shade of a night-light with a shapely beach treasure. Look for shells with a flat surface that you can glue. Sea biscuits, scallops, and sand dollars all work well. Rinse shell clean or soak in a bucket of water containing a capful of bleach until shell just turns white. After letting shell dry completely, apply epoxy glue to night-light clip, and then press onto flat part of shell. When dry, attach to socket.

The shell used in the sample is a sea biscuit.

anyone know what type of shell that was used in the sample? Is that a sand dollar? I'm also wondering if it is a sand dollar, if anyone knows a good source for purchasing them. THANKS!!! Great, simple, attractive project.

I get my night lights at places like the "Dollar Tree" or Dollar General and/or Family dollar. They are very reasonably priced.
