Cocktail Accompaniments Platter

Martha Stewart Living, July 2009

A basic white platter (this one's from just might be the most versatile item in your cupboard. We've used it here to corral cocktail garnishes; try it at your next party!

Offer accompaniments to cocktails: citrus wedges (for gin and vodka tonics), olives and caper berries (martinis, Bloody Marys), and cocktail onions (Gibsons).

Often tableware can have raised edges (obviously to hold food in place) and it can be hard to find a perfectly flat one to present small bowls as in this idea. As an alternative try your local hardware of tile shop. As well as heavier floor tiles, wall tiles now come in larger sizes and plain white is a popular choice, although slate and granite tiles can look fabulous used as above or as a cheese board, canape platter, etc. Back the tile with felt or cork/rubber pads to protect table tops.
