This quick folding trick helps you get a handle on picnic wines, then yields a place to lay your outdoor feast. Start with a square tablecloth that's at least 36 inches. Lay it right side down.
1. Place one bottle on each side of the bottom corner, as pictured. Pull the bottom corner up over the bottles, then roll the bottles forward to opposite corner.
2. Holding the cloth in place, stand up the bottles.
3. Twist ends in opposite directions; knot them to secure.

Made a 36" table cloth today and used this idea to wrap two bottles of wine for a friend's leaving/40th birthday gift. There was a pocket formed in the wraps so I put in some permanent markers for the guests to write their greetings and other messages. She loved it! Thank you Martha!
I love this idea too! I've made tray clothes that I've then wrapped gifts in so the recipient gets the gift and a personal tray cloth...my friends loved this when I did this for Mother's Day.
Love this. How about more unique ideas for gift wrapping!
Everyone uses gift bags and I want to be different.

What a cute idea for gift giving!
Fantistic Idea! Loved the following comments: could be a house warming present and/or use this with vinegar and oil (instead of wine) for a present.
That is a Japanese FUROSHIKI style of idea! You can use this idea when you buy some bottles in a store :D
So you do not need a plastic bag. Furoshiki is very useful and environment-friendly.
You don't need to waste the fabric, or the time. Just put it in a tote or cooler!
Thanks, Martha, for clear drawings and instructions on this idea.
You forgot to mention this is a furoshiki technique from Japan...
TheChort - THANK YOU - could be the start of a small gift wrapping service

This Japanese form of envionmentally concious wrapping is centuries old.
Perfect for hostess gifts this 4th of July at picnics, BBQ's family
gatherings. With the cloth as a bonus gift.....perfect,
for non drinkers; a nice bottle of EVOO and vinegar. similar shaped bottles would be nice but close would still work. Or buy the EVOO and make a flavored vinegar with fresh herbs like rosemary stems.
I sewed 4 bandanas (4 for $5!) into a big square and wrapped up a couple bottles for a hostess gift. It worked great!
You could gift the table cloth and the wine as a house warming present.
