Crocheted Baby Booties

Martha Stewart Baby, Winter 2001

Making something by hand for an arriving baby is a thoughtful gesture on the part of a friend or relative -- and it's also a nice way for an expectant mom to pass time toward the end of her pregnancy. These adorable ruby-red booties are an excellent project for an experienced crocheter.

About the enormous size ... did you check the gauge? Everyone's crochet stitches are different (tighter or looser), and you may need to go down a hook size, regardless of what the instructions say.

I attempted this pattern using the appropriate yarn and hook but it ended up being enormous!?!?
