Direct guests to their seats with name cards topped by leaves that look like they just blew in. To make each card, fold a piece of brown cover-weight card stock in half. Write guest's name with a white gel pen. Cut 1 or 2 notches (about 1 inch wide) in card, at an angle. Slide fallen leaves -- fresh or dried and pressed -- into each notch.

An avid bird watcher keeps an eye on her little owl with a pair of binoculars. Other than the hat and a canteen (available at camping-supply stores), this costume can be assembled entirely from ordinary street clothes: Choose an outfit that consists of neutral, outdoorsy pieces, such as the safari-style jacket and brown pants shown, and don't forget a pair of sensible shoes.
Decorate holiday packages with these red-and-green berry clusters, left. Attach them with waxed twine, and then tie gift tags to the stems.
1. To make leaves and berries, follow the instructions for our Fall Berry Wreath, but use light-green and dark-green felt for the leaves' top and bottom layers, respectively, and dark-red felt for the berries.
2. Cluster leaf and berry stems; bind with green floral tape.

Create a seasonal garland to drape around the doorway using multicolored decorative dried corn.
Space cobs 6 to 8 inches apart on a length of raffia (available at crafts stores), tying it around each piece where the husk meets the kernels.
The cobs will hang vertically; if you'd like them to be horizontal (as shown in the center of garland), tie the tip of each cob to the husk of the next using floral wire.

Use a gold-colored metallic-paint pen to "gild" the borders of invitations, note cards, gift tags, envelopes, and place cards. Purchase the paint pen from a crafts or art-supply store. On a covered work surface, run the pen's felt tip flush along all edges of the paper; the paint will bleed slightly, creating a glimmering border.
