Tools and Materials
Pearl beads, 1/8 to 1/2 inch in diameter
Eight 4-inch head pins
Mounting tape
2 cabochons
16-gauge covered floral wire

Pearl Tree Topper How-To
1. Beginning with the smallest bead and continuing in ascending order, string a few beads onto a pin. Repeat for each pin, making sure the pins are adorned with an equal amount of beads.

2. Use the mounting tape to attach all 8 pins to the back of a cabochon. Trim the ends of the pins, if needed. Cut a 9-inch piece of floral wire and attach it to the back. Place another cabochon, also backed with a piece of mounting tape, on top of the pins. Press firmly to ensure the cabochons are sticking together, and use wire to attach at the top of the tree.

I too would like to do this but agree that the tips of the headpins sounds like it would not be substantial for holding to back of cabochons. What about solder gun or glue gun?

there isn't enough flat surface area on the tip of the headpin for them to get any grip or traction to actually stick to the cabochons securely. i managed to get to the very last step, and when i held up my tree topper, each row of pearls could be slid out of even the stickiest 3M tape. help!!?? i would really love to make this beautiful craft project.

i want to make this craft for next year's christmas gifts. i can't seem to find the 4" head pins anywhere. does anyone know where i can purchase these? i made on using 2" head pins, just as a sample, but i still want to get the 4" ones to do the actual gifts. any suggestions?
