Romantic Candles

The Martha Stewart Show, February 2008

Set the mood this Valentine's Day with these romantic heart candles.

Tools and Materials
Chopsticks
Blow-dryer
Heart-shaped craft punches in various sizes
Sheet wax
Pillar candle

Candle How-To:
1. Punch hearts from a sheet of wax using heart-shaped craft punches.

2. While holding a single wax heart with chopsticks, heat the pillar candle and wax heart using a blow-dryer (this will soften the wax heart, causing it to adhere to the candle).

3. Repeat this process until you have attached the desired number of hearts to the candle.

Resources
Sheet wax is available at mannlakeltd.com. Heart-shaped craft punches are available on marthastewartcrafts.com. Special thanks to Raquel Welch for demonstrating how to make this craft, as well as a Message in a Bottle.

You can also use rubber stamps on tissue paper. Cut out your little images as close to the design as possible. Then lay a larger piece of waxed paper (with the waxy side to the candle over top of your tissue design, Use a heat gun and melt the waxed paper. Gently remove the waxed paper and your design is now on the candle. Burn the smaller candles in clear glass holders.

To Marycastles, well you made my day now that I know you don't use candles. Don't know how a craft site would manage without such useful informatimation.

I think that here in Brazil we don't have these wax sheets, but I liked the idea of gummy1a user... we can do our own wax sheets... I will try... I like to see that Rachel Welch is still gorgeous and in shape! Thanx!

I have used a cookie sheet with a thin layer of wax, any color and a swirl of different color is cool, and with cookie cutters made decorated candles for any occasion!
