Project

Hanging-Basket Ornament

Introduction

Print our template onto card stock and cut along solid lines. Score along dotted lines using a ruler and a bone folder. Fold in along innermost lines to form basket's sides; fold out along outer lines to create a rim.

Materials

  • Card stock
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Bone folder
  • Craft glue
  • Paintbrush
  • Clear glitter
  • 1/4-inch-wide ribbon
  • Mini paper fastener
  • Fabric glue (such as Magna-Tac 809)

Steps

  1. Step 1

Overlap sides slightly and glue in place using craft glue and a paintbrush; hold until set.

  2. Step 2

Brush glue on outside of basket. Working over a bowl, spoon glitter over glue, covering completely. Let dry; repeat on inside of basket.

  3. Step 3

When basket is dry, lay it facedown and crisscross three 14-inch-long ribbons as shown. Attach ribbons and card stock at center with a mini paper fastener. With same kind of ribbon, make two 2 1/4-inch-long tuxedo bows (see below). Cut another 7-inch strip of ribbon; this will be used to hang the ornament.

  4. Step 4

Turn basket right side up and bring ribbon ends in so they meet at a point. Holding them at that point, cut off excess and dab fabric glue on cut ends to secure; hold until it sets. Glue one end of the hanging-ribbon strip to both sides of the cut ends, making a loop. Glue a tuxedo bow to either side; concealing ends of looped ribbon. Fill baskets with wrapped candies.

I would really like to know where I can purchase the tree pictured. It looks pale blue in the picture but it could be a reflection. Please let me know.

    Thank you! =)
