Baby Lampshade

A baby's room requires a different decorating approach than any other room in the house--one that emphasizes soft, soothing colors, with toys and other embellishments that engage the baby as he becomes more aware of his environment. One simple idea is to customize an ordinary lampshade with an attractive ribbon. A 25-inch paper lampshade and a personalized ribbon were used to create the charming lampshade shown here.

Baby Lampshade How-To
1. With the tailor's chalk and a tape measure, mark the places where you'll want to punch the holes for the ribbon.

2. Use the hole punch to make the holes about 3/8 inch from the bottom edge of the lampshade.

3. Starting at the front, weave the ribbon through the holes, finishing off by tying a bow or knot at the front. Trim the ends.
