This flurry of bats reflects the eerie spirit of Halloween.
Cut out flying bats in different sizes from black adhesive shelf liner. Stuck to a framed mirror, they will create the illusion of a portal to another world. But no spells or incantations are required to remove these winged creatures -- just peel them off when it's time for the decorations to come down.

Batty Mirror How-To
Print a bat template onto card stock, reducing or enlarging the image as you like (different sizes create a sense of depth). Cut out bats with a utility knife or scissors, and use as stencils. With a pencil, trace a stencil on the back of a sheet of shelf liner, and then cut out the shape. To make several bats at once, stack sheets and staple the ends of the stack to secure as you cut. When you're finished, peel off the backs and arrange the bats on the mirror.
