Project

Glittered Pumpkins

These decorations bring sparkle to tables and serving areas -- and they last far longer than jack-o'-lanterns.

Materials

  • Medium-size paintbrush
  • White glue
  • Small pumpkin
  • Paper plate or a sheet of newspaper
  • Glitter
  • Brown acrylic paint

Steps

  1. Step 1

Use a medium-size paintbrush to spread a layer of white glue over the surface of a small pumpkin.

  2. Step 2

Hold pumpkin over a paper plate or a sheet of newspaper to catch excess glitter. Sprinkle powder glitter over pumpkin in several colors (we used penny, persimmon, orange, and pink champagne), covering completely.

  3. Step 3

Let dry for about one hour; shake off excess glitter.

  4. Step 4

Coat stem with brown acrylic paint; let dry. Pumpkins will keep for months.

I love making these. I make them every year. They really do last forever. Make them at the beginning of October and you can still enjoy them as a decoration for Thanksgiving. I love experimenting with the colors too. Black and purple glitter pumpkins are pretty alongside the shades of orange as well.

It is possible to unlock your cell phone, and decide on your carrier. whether or not you choose to go with a calendar monthly contract, or no matter if you want to go on a month by month or pay as you go plan, you can do so with an unlocked phone.

I have made these before. They really make a great decoration and can last many months. The glitter can end up everywhere around the house though! :) Keep up the good work on the site!

Does anyone know where to get the silver stands that the pumpkins are on? Thanks!

I made these for my centerpieces at my wedding in '08. Quick and easy to make, especially with spray glue, they turned out beautiful and we had so many compliments on them. Some of the leftovers that we have we put in a bowl during the Halloween/Thanksgiving season and they still look beautiful years later.

  • 2 Dec, 2010

I made these for Halloween this year and then used them for Thanksgiving. So easy and so beautiful! Recieved many compliments!

  • 27 Oct, 2008

I made these two years ago, and I loved how beautiful they looked. I used very small pie pumpkins, because the glitter recommended is quite expensive considering how much you use. I think you can now buy it at Michaels, in the MarthaStewart area. I displayed them in my kitchen and they lasted beyond Thanksgiving!

  • 18 Aug, 2008

I used faux pumpkins and gourds to make these last year so that I could keep them since the glitter is pricey. They were beautiful; I've already got a craft day planned to make more this year to add to my collection!

  • 12 Aug, 2008

These turned out beautifully! I purchased a deep rust colored glitter and an ivory glitter. I combined them in different amounts and colored each pumpkin in a slightly different shade of orange. A fun and easy project that I will definitely make again this year!

this is my style of craft... eyecatching, something i can do with my son, and a bit different!

  • 25 Feb, 2008

I used artificial pumpkins so I could save them and use them in the future. I have received more compliments on these than on any of my crafty decorations. They really make a splash on my dining room table. I have 5 in a glass bowl as my centerpiece for the Halloween and Thanksgiving holiday. Gorgeous and Easy!!! It is not messy at all if you use the paper plate trick to collect excess glitter.
