Valentine's Day Cards

Introduction

For All Cards
Tools and Materials
Ruler
Bone folder
Craft knife
8 1/2-by-11-inch card stock

Valentine's Day How-To
1. Create the blank cards: cut a piece of 8 1/2-by-11-inch paper in half widthwise to make two 8 1/2-by-5 1/2-inch pieces.

2. Score each piece down the center of the width with a ruler and a bone folder. Fold in half to make two 4 1/4-by-5 1/2-inch cards.

3. Decorate according to instructions for individual cards below.

Boxer Shorts Card
Tools and Materials
Scissors
Pencil
Glitter pen
Flocked decorative paper
Foam mounting squares

Boxer Shorts Card How-To
1. Cut a small rectangle from a piece of flocked paper, then cut a triangle from the center of one long side of the rectangle to make a "boxer shorts" shape.

2. Draw a circle in the center of the front of the card with a pencil.

3. Use foam mounting squares to adhere the boxer shorts to the card in the middle of the circle.

4. Below the circle, write the phrase: "Can't wait to get into your shorts!"

5. Trace around the circle with a glitter pen.

Queen/King of Hearts Card
Tools and Materials
Printed template and card stock, or king/queen of hearts playing card
Foam mounting squares
Glitter pen

Queen/King of Hearts Card How To
1. Print "King and Queen of Hearts" template on card stock and cut out your choice of king or queen, or use a real playing card.

2. Fill in hearts on playing cards with a glitter pen.

3. Adhere playing card to front of blank card with foam mounting squares.

4. Write the phrase "To my king of hearts" or "To my queen of hearts" below the mounted card.

Olive Card
Tools and Materials
Scissors
Craft glue
Green crepe paper or crepe paper streamer
Round red adhesive rhinestones

Olive Card How-To
1. Cut out three crepe paper olive shapes. Glue to the front of the blank card.

2. Glue red round adhesive rhinestones to the olive shapes to create "pimentos."

3. Write the phrase, "Olive you!" on the front of the card.

Four-Leaf Clover Card
Tools and Materials
Scissors
Red marker
Adhesive red heart-shaped rhinestones

Four-Leaf Clover Card How-To
1. Adhere four heart-shaped rhinestones to the front of the blank card in the shape of a four-leaf clover -- with all points toward the center.

2. Draw a stem.

3. Write the phrase, "Let's get lucky together!" below the clover.

    I'm with you winnethka, honestly martha stewart isn't really something most children are just jonesing to watch, it's more adult appropriate anyway. For heaven's sakes find something better to do with your time than whine about a cute valentines day card!

    I was not impressed with the cards. They were not up to the standard set by your show, which is CLASSY! As greulich says in her comment they are too racy for kids watching. Dnna89

    I thought these cards were rather low class. For a show that generally can be viewed with children in the room, a boxer shorts valentine that says "Can't wait to get into your shorts!" is kind of hard to explain!

    Hi Knit, the template for the scherenshnitte heart can be found under go to the show once you click that look to the right column and you will see paper heart click that and the link for the template will open.
