Cast a sinister glow over any setting with a cluster of white tapers dripping with "blood" -- actually red candle wax. Plain white tapers transformed into creepy candles are a scary Good Thing.
Tools and Materials
White tapers
Red candles
Small pail
Sand
Creepy Candles How-To
Fill a cup or a small pail with sand, and plant white candles inside so they stand upright. Light a red candle and tip it over the white candles so the wax drips down the tops and sides, being careful not to burn yourself. Let wax cool completely before removing candles from sand.

This was so simple and fast! The effect is great! Thanks Martha!
the red candle works well, but the crayon works very well! The only con to it is the red crayon doesn't last as long so it takes quite a few to do a couple sets of candles, but it still looks gory!
easy to make, look great in candle stick holders. great idea. will use again!
I tried making these the other day but the red colour from the candle just doesnt look dark enough. It is more of a pinkish hue..
Oh well, Ill try the crayon idea.
:D
These are actually really cheap to purchase from WIshing Well. I'm sure it's fun to create these, but if you're strapped for time, make the purchase, put the candles in neat holders, light and walk away. This will be our 4th annual Halloween Party and I get a little more savvy each year about what decoration is meaningful and worth the time.
Red crayon melted with the flame of the burning candle works great and glissens like bright red blood. Just drip the melting red crayon over edge of white candle. Green crayon lookes nice and icky.
I started with red tapers
