Leaf Garland Costume

We copied the leaves of maple, oak, ginkgo, sassafras, and birch trees, but you can use any leaf shape you wish.

Leaf Garland How-To
Cut each leaf from a double layer of crepe, with the grain of the crepe running lengthwise along the leaf. Cut a 3 1/2-inch length of 18-gauge wire. Wrap the wire with brown floral tape. Use a glue stick to sandwich the wire between leaf pieces. For the headpiece, cut a piece of wire long enough to rest, crownlike, on the wearer's head, plus 1 inch. Cover with brown floral tape. Use more tape to join a leaf to the wire base, and continue adding remaining leaves along the wire. Twist ends together to form a crown. Repeat the process to create a second wire loop that is the right size to wear as a sash across the body.
