Embellished Easter Basket

Bejewel a basic, store-bought basket with colorful beaded handles for a holder as dazzling its Easter contents. The technique is easy, requiring little more than a basket, 20-gauge wire, and the beads of your choice.

To make a basket with two handles, use an awl to pierce a hole on one wall of the basket, 1/4 inch to 2 inches in from the side and 1/4 inch down from the top. Pierce another hole on the basket's opposite wall, and repeat for the remaining two walls. Thread an 18-inch length of 20-gauge wire through one of the holes. Create a loop with the wire through the hole, then wrap the wire around itself. Use needle-nose pliers to tighten the wrap. Thread the wire with beads, then secure the second cut end of the wire to the opposite hole using needle-nose pliers. Repeat the process to create the second handle.
