Resources: All tools and materials are from Martha Stewart Crafts, with the exception of the hot-glue gun and glue sticks, which are available at most crafts or hardware stores. Special thanks to Hannah Milman, editorial director of crafts for Martha Stewart Living, for sharing this craft.

  • Rotary cutter with straight blade and scalloped blade

  • 12 x 12 decorative paper

  • 12 x 12 card stock

  • Bone folder

  • Hot-glue gun and hot-glue sticks

  • Bottle or other weighted item

  • 1-inch Starburst craft punch

  • Letter and number stamps

  • Stamp pad

  • Pin

  1. Cut a 1 1/4-inch-wide strip from decorative paper with the scalloped rotary blade.

  2. Cut a 1/2-inch-wide strip from card stock with the straight rotary blade.

  3. Accordion-fold the wider strip, using the scallops as a guide for where to place the folds.

  4. Attach the two ends of the accordion-folded strip together with double-sided tape to create a small tube. Flatten the tube to form a circle.

  5. Add a dot of hot glue to the center of the circle to secure in place; place a bottle or other weight on top of the circle to keep it flat.

  6. Make the tails for the medallion by folding the 1/2-inch strip in half at a slight angle. Fold the ends of strip in half lengthwise and snip on the diagonal to make notched ends. Put a dab of hot glue on the fold and glue to the back of the medallion.

  7. Decorate the center of the medallion with a punched starburst circle or another small strip of paper, stamped with letters or numbers.

  8. Add a pin to the back of the medallion by hot-gluing a pin back to a punched starburst circle for stability. Hot glue the circle to the back of the medallion.
