The templates for the slippers can be adjusted to fit different shoe sizes.
For Branch Slippers
1. Download slipper templates (2 slipper tops with branch outline, 1 left sole, 1 right sole, 1 branch), resizing as desired; print onto card stock, and cut out all templates.
2. Cut equal rectangles of heather-brown felt, salmon felt, and fusible webbing (leaving 1 side of paper backing on), each large enough to accommodate 2 slipper tops.
3. Stack brown felt and fusible webbing (paper side up).
4. Lay slipper-top templates side by side on stack. Using a pencil, trace templates, marking notches A and B as indicated on templates.
5. Place branch template on 1 traced slipper top, using marked points to position properly, and trace. Repeat on second traced slipper top, flipping branch template to trace a mirror image. Cut out branch designs, slicing through webbing and felt with a craft knife.
6. Carefully remove paper backing from fusible webbing; webbing should stay in line with cut edges of branches. Stack salmon-felt rectangle on webbing, and flip over (keep branch shapes in position). Iron, following webbing manufacturer's instructions, with brown side up. Lay slipper-top templates on fused felt, and align notches A and B with tips of branches and leaves. Trace with a disappearing-ink pen. Cut out slipper tops, cutting through notches.
7. Cut equal rectangles of heather-brown felt, salmon felt, and fusible webbing large enough to accommodate 2 soles. Stack layers, with webbing in middle. Iron, following manufacturer's instructions on webbing. Lay templates for both soles side by side on fused fabric; trace with disappearing-ink pen. Cut out soles.
8. With a sewing machine, sew closed the vertical seam at back of each slipper top with a zigzag stitch (do not overlap fabric; instead, align edges, and stitch).
9. Pin 1 sewn slipper top to 1 sole, brown side down. Starting at heel, sew around perimeter of slipper, leaving a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Repeat to finish second slipper.
For Butterfly Slippers
1. Download slipper templates (2 slipper tops, 1 left sole, 1 right sole, butterflies), resizing as desired; print onto card stock, and cut out all templates.
2. Cut equal rectangles of cream felt, white felt, and fusible webbing, each large enough to accommodate 2 slipper tops. Stack layers, with webbing in middle. Iron, following webbing manufacturer's instructions.
3. Lay slipper-top templates side by side on fused felt. Trace with a disappearing-ink pen, and cut out slipper tops.
4. With disappearing-ink pen, trace butterfly templates onto different shades of pink felt. Cut out shapes.
5. Secure butterflies to cream side of slipper tops with straight pins or fabric glue. Using a sewing machine, stitch along midline of butterflies to secure to slippers.
6. To finish slippers, follow steps 7, 8, and 9 in "For Branch Slippers," using cream and white felt (cream side down on soles).

Are these slippers WASHABLE?? My experience with felt is that it is not washable, and I would certainly want to wash them occasionally. Please, someone, help with this question!
You can sew a non-slip bottom out of shelf liner as well.
Actually my Lexmark would not give me the entire page enlarged but I only got partials in larger print.I suggest printing a copy then cutting it out and taping one piece in the center of the paper then try copying again at 225% for what looks like about a 4-5 year old child. I am going to trace my foot in a sock and see if I cant adapt the pattern to that then go from there for sizing. Seems like taping one piece in the center of a paper then copying it in the higher percentage should work.
To make them non-slip, look in sewing notions, or do a search for slipper soles. Hancock Fabrics carries Slipper Grippers that can be cut out. They also have serveral different suede slipper soles in sizes. http://www.hancockfabrics.com/search.htm?numHits=24
If someone could impart their wisdom I would be extremely grateful! I have printed out the template on a regular printer and from there when to the copy machine, set the resolution % to the desired size...and when the copy comes out it is only HALF of the slipper template. Is there a way for me to tell the copy machine to print each slipper on multiple pages so I can get the whole template?
Thank you!
I bet you could also add some cabinet lining to the bottom and make them non-slip but...I love the colored glue idea also! I'm going to take some regular socks add some non-slip stuff and sew felt embellishments on them for a quick craft!
I loved this idea! They look so cute!
Another good place for felt in a lot of colors is www.achildsdream.com.
For the person who said they couldn't find colors www.feltandcraft.com has a huge selection of felt colors.
i agree with the previous posters who said to enlarge the template by about 2 or 3 sizes to get a good fit.
i made two pair and blooged them here:

they turned out great!
I'll also make jewelry cases for my antique jewelry
can anyone tell me how much felt one needs for an average-sized pair of women's slippers? I want to order some felt...
Thank you!!
Yeah, make sure you enlarge the template to a size 2 or three larger than your real show size, mine came out too small. They were great though, so I gave them to a friend...it's a fun and pretty project!

Go to the Dec. 2004 red felt slippers how-to page, and download the template. It has a shoe size to enlargement percentage conversion table on it along with the shoe template. Good luck.
Anyone have tips on copy the template for the different shoe sizes? FedEx Kinkos had no idea how to do it!
This looks like so much fun! and great gift idea too!
To make the slippers non-slip you could purchase colored glue and apply to bottom in whatever shapes you'd like. I used to do this my son's socks when he was younger. You may have to reapply before you wear out the slippers due to wear and tear.
Any ideas on how to make the non-slip? Thanks.

To open the butterfly template, I opened the page for the branch slippers and typed over the word branch and over the 6 type 7. Worked for me

I love these! Just to let everybody know achildsdream.com has the felt to make these. They have awesome customer service, I get all of my felt from them, and they have really fast shipping. Can't wait till the template is up so that I can make some of these for Christmas gifts!
Can the sizes for Childrens slippers be added?
Hey there, Martha web people. Could you fix the link for the butterfly slippers template? I'd really love to make a pair. Thanks!
