How do you expect spiders to swarm on those clean windowsills? You need to set bait: Place small votives inside larger ones. Then fill the outer votives with freshly squeezed blood (okay, 2 teaspoons corn syrup mixed with 3 teaspoons water and several drops red food coloring). Push plastic arachnids between the votives with a pencil; scatter more spiders on the sill. Then spin your spiders a glowing web: Place a transparent hot-glue pad over the web template . Trace the design onto the pad with glow-in-the-dark hot glue. When dry, peel off the web, and press it firmly onto a window. Use double-sided tape if web doesn't adhere easily.

Where can I get the 2 sizes of votives that are just the right height/proportion?
Minionsweb.com sells the glue sticks direct; they also have blood sticks (!) as well as other varieties. (You can buy a hot glue "web shooter" -- y'know all those stringies that hot glue leaves, that you hate on your crafts? Well, there's a glue gun that does it on purpose!) I tried Michaels.com, and though they carry other Martha products, they don't have the glow-glue online.

TIP: This looks super creepy with darker ivory colored candles. Using white makes it too clean and unbelieveable. As for the dye, use only water, use A LOT of red dye but then add a very VERY small drop of brown dye (Or brown dye is made from orange plus black).
