Basic knitting skills are all you need to create this 9-inch mouse. It's part of a collection of knitted and crocheted creatures called amigurumi, after the Japanese art of crocheting small animals. For more animal patterns, go to lionbrand.com.

Thanks, Martha for the 1001 and more good ideas !!!!
Love, Atalá
This is just too cute! I'm giving this as a Christmas ornament gift to friends.
I'm making this right now, and it's turning out very cute. Very easy pattern. I'm not sure why several commenters are complaining that it's too hard; maybe if you've only ever knitted potholders.
I find it adorable.. cute and simple...

Hi owlover1, first line is very messy, I understand. My suggestion would be to use a around needle (it looks like normal needles but with a cable that connects them - not sure of the proper name for these needles). You then would only have to worry about one set of needle but do put safety pins or spacers where they suggest. Hope this helps
Basic? I can knit OK but crochet better. However, I don't even understand the first line of directions...LOL.

I think the important thing is to keeep track of your rows; otherwise forget it.
Would make a cute door stop. Either put a big rock or brick inside.
There is nothing BASIC about this pattern. Just use a piece of wool scrap and cut out your own and stitch together.
Umm...where does the basic part come in? I know how to Knit and Purl....but not sure about this. Wish there were a video or more zoom on this with pictures.
I would like to see a video of this project.
this animal is soo cute i just finished it today and started it yesterday!
