Clip-Art Holiday Gift Cards

Why are these creatures smiling? They're holding on to a secret, and when the time comes, they'll open their arms wide to reveal it: a hidden holiday greeting.

Introduction

Kids can write their own messages inside these cheerful cards and hand them out to classmates and teachers, or punch a hole at the top and tie on ribbon or yarn to use as tags. Choose our gift-bearing bear or generous pooch -- or draw your own friendly character.

Materials

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Download and print templates.

  2. Step 2

Use a glue stick to back the blank side of the printout with a sheet of colored paper. Cut out along solid lines (don't forget to cut out the slit on the gift box).

  3. Step 3

Write message on inside of card, then fold on center line.

  4. Step 4

To close card, fold arms in along dotted lines, and tuck tab on hand into slit.

@Lakieta, you can make the template black in white by print screening it (the button, PrtSc, can be seen on the top right part of your keyboard), then pasting it on Microsoft paint or Microsoft word. There are options there where you can make the templates grey scale.

    Hi Martha and Creative Team,

Would you please make these gift cards in black and white.
My kids and I would love to adorn them with glitter and all sorts of fun stuff. But they need to be black and white!

    Much love and appreciation,
    The Kelly Girls

I wish these types of templates were in black-and-white instead of color. First, because I don't have a color printer and secondly, because the kids like to color.

Thanks vanillasushi -- My brain just couldn't get the idea that the card had to be opend - as you said like a gift card would. Somehow I just didn't get it.

Duh - I get it! Thanks. Just couldn't understand that the card has to be totally opened to write greeting. That was driving me crazy.

You won't be writing on the side printed with the bear at all. You'll be writing on the reserve side that is blank and then folding the bear around it. It's exactly like writing on the inside of a gift card.

Thanks. I did look again and the only blank areas will be the outstretched arms so you will be writing across the scarf. Kind of odd.

OK - I'm clueless, but where do you write your message? I guess you write it over the bear's scarf -- no blank area. Please let me know if I'm missing something

If you save the templates to your desktop and then right click on the file name and choose "open with" and then select for example Photoshop Elements, they should open in that programand allow you to resize them.

I haven't had any problem with the templates yet but i do wish that they were in a form other than adobe since there are things I would like to resize.

The emailers that mentioned that they can't download the templates probably need to download (or update) the FREE Adobe Reader at www.adobe.com.

I, too, am NEVER able to download a template - no matter how many times I try because I'm SO OFTEN inspired by projects on Martha's site. I always try again to no avail. I have most things installed on my computer so that I can open nearly anything sent to me via e-mail, etc. but I can't do the templates!

    Hi Martha,
I am unable to download/print any of your labels. Perhaps there is something gone awry in the command from your website.
    Thanks, KJH

    Dear Atrim10,
Make sure your Adobe Reader is up to date. 6.0 or higher version (7.0 newest) opens this file. You can get Adobe Reader on www.adobe.com. Good luck hope that helps!
