How-To

Easy Ornaments: Pipe-Cleaner Wreath

Martha Stewart Living, December 2000

Tools and Materials

  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • 6-mm green pipe cleaners
  • White pipe cleaners
  • Red felt-tip marker
  • Glue gun
  • Ribbon
  • Sequins and beads

Wreath How-To
1. Cut a cardboard circle 3 inches in diameter. Cut a 1 1/2-inch-diameter circle out of its center.

2. Wrap this wreath form tightly with 6-mm green pipe cleaners; you'll need about four 12-inch sticks to do the job.

3. To add a tiny candle, cut a 1 1/2-inch piece of white pipe cleaner; "light" the flame with a red felt marker. With hot glue, attach the candle to the wreath; glue a bow over it. Add sequins and beads to resemble ornaments.

I followed these directions but used left over green chenile yarn. Was a great way to use up scraps from other projects. I didn't put a candle on mine but used left over tiny pinecones, bells, etc. Love making these small things as package tie-ons. Thanks for the great inspiration!
