Kids are natural collectors. They love shells and marbles, stamps and coins, even bottle caps. But the things they love needn't end up hidden in drawers. Here are some tips on how to put these collections to good use.
Desk How-To
1. Hang their favorite pictures and postcards on a whimsical adaptation of a clothesline; we used ribbon.
2. Display small items in glass-fronted boxes. The content of the display can change as a kid's interests.
3. Use a binder to organize souvenirs and other collectibles. Arrange maps and brochures from family vacations in plastic page protectors.
4. Set up a shelf or corner in your child's room where she can hang her own artwork and put together exhibitions of special objects.
I love this idea. I have a ten yr old six yr old...both love collecting. I would love to know where I can get that adorable desk! Anyone have a clue?

When my granddaughters visit for a month in the summer I turn the breakfast nook into an "art room". I hang several ribbons to display their projects on across the windows. We use clothespins decorated with paint, glitter, bows, and small artificial flowers, turning the breakfast area into an art gallery.

We love using the clothes line to display all of the preschool and Sunday School artwork that my kiddos bring home. Each of my kids have one in their rooms and a family one in the playroom. Covering the clothes pins with a variety of ribbons makes it even more fun. We have our own personal art gallery!
