Introduction

These beautiful faux bois, or "fake wood," vases are a Good Thing that brings the outside indoors. Simply combine a few of them to create a winter tableau for the table or mantle.

Tools and Materials
Birch bark
Scissors
Ruler or tape measure
Knotted twine
Seasonal flowers, such as amaryllis, geraniums, or pine branches
Vases
Pinecones
Boxwood

Rustic Vase How-To
1. Cut birch bark to fit around each vase, adding an inch to the circumference. Secure bark to vase with knotted twine.

2. Arrange seasonal flowers in the vases, cutting the stems to different lengths. Stagger the vases on a table or mantle, and surround them with pinecones and boxwood for a finished and seasonal look.
