Guy Wolff Pottery

Martha Stewart Living Television

For over thirty years, master potter Guy Wolff has been bringing classical design to the American garden with his signature white clay pots -- elegant creations that remain faithful to traditional pottery while reflecting his own distinctive style. Finished with an ornamental rim, each pot is inspired by history. In fact, a trip to the gardens at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello gave birth to a beautiful roped-rim pot.

Guy begins the process by digging clay from the earth. Then, he mixes the clay with minerals before refining it. Next, the clay is thrown on a potter's wheel. Using sixteenth-century tools, Guy decorates each shaped pot by hand, signing and stamping it with the year it was created. After drying overnight, the piece is finally fired in a kiln at 2,000 degrees.
