Wrapping Gift Cards

Gift cards are a great present that can make gift giving much easier, especially for those hard-to-buy-for people on your list. Instead of just putting the gift in a greeting card, add a special personalized touch by making one of these unique gift-card holders yourself.

Materials

  • Envelope
  • Glue stick
  • Fabric
  • Scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Adhesive-backed label
  • Ribbon
  • Ornament templates one and two
  • Pencil and pen
  • Red paper
  • Paintbrush
  • Glitter
  • Hole punch
  • String
  • Name tag

Steps

  1. Step 1

Completely unfold an envelope and cover with glue stick. Put envelope, glue side down, on a piece of fabric. Trim excess fabric.

  2. Step 2

Put envelope back together using craft glue. Place gift card in envelope. Put adhesive-backed label on ribbon and wrap ribbon around envelope.

  3. Step 3

Download and print template one and two of ornament shapes. Trace two ornaments on red paper; cut out ornament shapes. Cut along line on ornament to make slit to put card in.

  4. Step 4

Lightly brush one ornament shape with craft glue. Cover with glitter. Apply glue to perimeter of unglittered ornament. Put glittered ornament on top. Then, embellish if you want by gluing a ribbon to the ornament.

  5. Step 5

Punch a hole in the top and put a string through to hang and add a name tag. Insert gift card, and hang on tree.

The pictures really don't do the tree hanger justice. Martha was right, her glitter is by far the best... but you have to pay for that quality. If you want your kids to help, better stick to regular glitter. I was wary of using this much glitter since I made several for my nieces and nephews... because I'm cheap. But I'm glad I did, they look great! Good project, easy, fast.

I loved the tree hanger gift card pattern. I can think of many other uses for the pattern. I am a teacher and trainer of teachers and I always think about different ways to use many different things. Teachers are always looking for creative ideas and I love finding ideas on this site. Thanks, Martha.
