Beeswax-wrapped fixtures provide the welcoming look of pillar candles without the attendant fire hazard.
Materials
- Plug-in or battery-powered candle
- Measuring tape
- Utility knife
- Sheets of beeswax
Steps
-
Step 1 of 2
Measure the height of a plug-in or battery-powered candle, excluding base and the top inch of taper. Using a utility knife, trim a standard (8-by-16-inch) sheet of beeswax to this width. Roll entire length of sheet around candle.
-
Step 2 of 2
Measure and trim a second sheet, 2 inches wider than the first or wide enough to hide the whole candle and base. Wrap entire sheet around candle, flush with its base and the base of the flame. Repeat with a third sheet.

Where to find the boxes :)
where can I find the plastic boxes?
any ideas on where i can buy frosted plastic at to make my own boxes?
I used regular plastic boxes. They look just as nice.
I did this except I strung some white christmas lights around the packages and my neighbors just loved this! Thanks MSL!
we too are unable to find boxes. what IKEA boxes were found? does anyone know the actual kind of plastic used and is it available to construct our own boxes. I was thinking corragated plastic..
Directions for boxes are on page 6, just look.
There is NO explanation on this site as to HOW to make these - the explanation for the boxes is missing!!!!
Hey Junebug, I just wanted to give you a heads up that the boxes I think you are talking about are only 5 inches for the extra large size. This would be too small to do this project.
I made these and now they are glowing outside my front door!! Really looks wonderful. I'm living in Singapore and I used the white plastic boxes of different sizes and the bulbs from IKEA. The results looks the same.
Thank you junebug2; those boxes do seem perfect. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
I think these boxes from organize.com would work really well: http://shop.organize.com/1/1/2138-lookers-square-box-extra-large-clear.html
Try a place like the Container Store or a place that sells organizing products.
I'm in the same boat. I've looked everywhere for something to use for the boxes but haven't found anything yet. Would sure like to hear from someone who has solved this puzzle!

These are adorable. Does anyone know where to purchase the boxes?
