Frog-Closure Napkin Rings

Martha Stewart Living Television

A small accent like a napkin ring can define your table setting, pulling together whatever look -- formal, festive, or casual -- you want to create. These unusual napkin rings, a wonderful addition to a simple table setting, are made out of cord closures called frogs, which are available at fabric and trimmings stores.

A traditional feature of Asian fashions, silk or satin frogs are often used as closures on the fronts of blouses, shirts, and light jackets. Frogs cost between $1.50 and $3 each, making this project an inexpensive one. And because each napkin ring requires only two pieces -- a length of elastic and a frog -- they're easy to make; in less than an hour, you can create enough rings for a table of eight.
