Holiday Hostess Gift

A hostess gift offers a wonderful way to show how much you appreciate a friend’s or family member’s hospitality.

Introduction

Wrapped in cellophane, encased in an attractive container, and tied with a pretty ribbon, a flavorful combination of nuts and fresh and dried fruits makes a lovely gift; include a nutcracker and nutpick to complete the package. Martha uses a small galvanized pot for this project, but you can use any kind of container you desire.

Materials

  • Cellophane bag
  • Container
  • Fresh fruit
  • Dried fruit
  • Almonds
  • Walnuts
  • Pecans
  • Brazil nuts
  • Chocolate hazelnuts
  • Ribbon, twine, or raffia
  • Gift tag (optional)
  • Dried berries, holly, or rose hips for decoration (optional)
  • Nutcracker
  • Nutpick

Steps

  1. Step 1

Place the cellophane bag in the container, then fill the bag with fruits and nuts.

  2. Step 2

Tie the bag at the top with ribbon, leaving some cellophane free above the ribbon for a ruffled effect. Attach a gift tag or the dried berries, holly, or rose hips to the ribbon, if desired.

  3. Step 3

Tuck the nutcracker and nutpick into the side of the container. You can also wrap the ribbon around the nutcracker before tying the bag.

I love the idea of giving a chocolate baby shower gift. Everyone at the shower should get something. It's just so classy.
