Homemade Postcard Craft

Create beautiful cards to send to friends and family with this simple craft-punch process.

Materials

  • Craft punches
  • Craft punches
  • Decorative paper
  • Mat pad
  • Glue with fine-tip applicator
  • Wide-tip glue pen
  • Coarse glitter
  • Paper plate
  • Scissors
  • Cutting mat
  • Baker's twine (optional)

Steps

  1. Step 1

Decide if you want a fully or partially glittered card. With a wide-tip glue pen, lightly apply glue as desired to 4-by-6-inch card. Place on paper plate and sprinkle coarse glitter on top. Shake excess onto plate, and funnel back into glitter container when finished. Set aside card to dry for approximately 5 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Punch designs out of decorative paper using craft punch. To add lettering or make layered shapes, layer the cutouts as desired and use a tiny amount of glue from the fine-tip applicator to adhere.

  3. Step 3

Use fine-tip applicator to attach shapes to glittered card. For a 3-D effect, use foam dots. If attaching foam dot to glittered part of card, add some glue to back of foam dot. Connect shapes with baker's twine, if desired. Place foam dots on back of decorated card and adhere to larger patterned mat-pad card.
