The unlikeliest of materials -- pantyhose and rubber "bouncy" balls -- are transformed into a stylish statement necklace in this simple process from Erica Domesek. Mix balls of different colors and sizes with a variety of sheer textured stockings to achieve countless looks.

Necklace How-To
1. Cut legs off stockings. On one leg, tie a knot about 6 inches from toe. Place balls inside stocking leg, one at a time, stretching stocking and tying a knot after each. Repeat with second stocking leg.
2. Knot legs together end to end to create necklace.

how small-minded to outright dismiss this as "ugly" and "ridiculous". with a simple strapless top and a messy up-do this would be really cool (where i live anyway), think out of the box a little! sure, worn with a sweatshirt with a wolf airbrushed on it and a pair of baggy jeans it probably would look ugly, but with the right outfut it would be awesome...try to have a little vision and remember that whoever created this piece is likely reading these comments, don't be so hateful.
Ithink it is an interesting idea, but think the weight of the balls would become uncomfortable after a little while. It still inspires me to try something similar.
This looks like what it is- pantyhose and juggle balls. Something a creepy clown would wear.
This is actually refreshingly unexpected on Martha Stewart and very cool...ty :D
hmm, probably looks good from afar...Perhaps glass marbles would be nicer?
Fail
Many people are inspired to make something because of what they're presented here...whether they like what they see or not.
Some of those who didn't like the product (this necklace) still saw something valuable enough in the idea to inspire their own creativity. That's always good.
Those who prefer to be negative surely have deeper problems than their dislike for this project.
You're GOT to be kidding me. I think it's time to unsubscribe. This is BEYOND words.
I agree with the writer who said Martha wouldn't wear anything like this necklace! As a Halloween necklace or other novelty item, yes--but as a "statement" piece...I don't think this necklace is going to make any nice outfit look better. What's next, using the tops from opened cans to make earrings? Could be used for a costume or for a child craft/necklace, but that's the limit.
I think it's great. It uses inexpensive items to make a piece of art. I think I'll make one using marbles instead. I'm not tall enough to wear something this big. Think of the possibilities using different colored marbles and different colored pantie hose. Or you could use some of those glass rocks sold to put in vases. You should be inspired instead of knocking down someone else's efforts. If you can't say something nice then don't say anything; just move on.
If it was made with monochromatic rubber balls and not the multicolors this could look amazing. But hey, haters, say what you will. You are obviously lacking creativity and that's why Martha is Martha and you are you. Thanks for your courtesy!
I checked out the other items that Erica has on her website and some are really cool! This idea might not be your cuppa tea but there are some other ideas I CAN'T wait to try! If the idea of using rubber balls doesn't work for you, why not try wooden balls that you can spray paint whatever colour you'd like?!
OMG!! When I saw this craft, I though, "This is ridiculous AND ugly." I then wondered if I was the only one who thought so; glad to see that I'm not. Is it time for Martha to hire new creative staff?
There goes the mob mentality. One person starts thinking that it's cool to be rude, and the others follow. You know we don't have to like any of the ideas presented to us (for free, mind you), but we also don't have to be unkind. Please test what you write by saying the words to yourself in the mirror first.
I think it is neat - try wooden beads- add contract material etc.. Would wear for sure - who knows it is stockings? Martha's crew pretty smart sez I.
I think it's pretty cool.
Whether or not you care for this craft is fine, but please remember that our words have power. This woman was invited onto Martha Stewart's show to share a craft. The words you are typing now about her idea, would you say them as harshly to her face? Just because we can anonymously type anything we want doesn't mean that we should use that opportunity to bash others. Food for thought . . .
lol I agree.. funny but certainly not stylish!
Stylish? Onwhat planet? Yoohoo, Martha: Quality Control Alert!!!
This cracked me up. Thanks for the laugh, Martha. But it isn't April Fools Day. And who wears pantyhose anymore, anyway?
What the f***? I can't help laughing out loud.
WOW-Martha needs to give her craft dept. some time off! This is from the bottom of the barrel.
I'm speechless. And not in a good way.
I am not going to rush right out and search for some rubber balls in order to make this necklace, but I think with smaller balls and graduating to even smaller ones and making it longer, it could be quite attractive. I am envisioning black hose with irridescent green. I might have to paint them, so will NOT.
Cannot think of any justification for even thinking about publishing this piece of trash!! Then again Martha may have hired a creative 8 yr. old craft designer????
I am FLABERGASTED to say the least. I agree with jmcgill, inajam, livsmum, TanaRhea and especially joduluth. THAT IS THE UGLIEST thing I've ever seen. Who the heck would ever wear that? And made with pantyhose, really? Come on Martha Stewart, YOU HAVE TO DO BETTER THAN THIS!!!!

This has got to be the worst idea I've ever seen. Not at all up to the standards of M.S.'s website
I think these are different and would be a greal conversation necklace. I would us smaller balls and light colored stockings. The pink necklace looks cool ,,These would be really different and I am sure it would look great with the right outfit..Think out of the box you guys!!!.I think I am going to try this for my 14 year old granddaughter .
This is the first craft of the day I've gotten in my inbox in awhile that is hip enough for me to want to make. And the fact that it lead me to a craftanista I knew nothing about at p.s. I made this, is double the amazing. Her blog is fantastic and has a lot more amazing ideas for those who are fans of MS.com for thinking outside of the craft box And inside it.
You could paint the balls to look like scary eyeballs and wear it for Halloween.
I know that ideas can be hard to come by, but really? Martha wouldn't wear this in public on a bet.
There was a really nice neckace that had you stretch/affix fabric around wooden beads (varying sized, all a lot smaller). The fabric was knotted inbetween to look like small separator beads, I was hoping this would be directions for that.
I can't believe someone would ever wear this!
I can't believe someone would ever wear this!
This is quite possibly the ugliest thing I've seen yet!

I couldn't have said it better myself. Somewhere some child is wondering what his mother did with their toys !
You have to have a lot of balls to wear this.
