Mouse Motel

Rooms go fast in these cozy, critter-filled pumpkins, which offer a shudder-inspiring alternative to traditional carving motifs.

  • Pumpkin
  • Marker
  • Keyhole saw
  • Scraper (optional)
  • Rubber mice (available at crafts stores)

  1. Step 1

Using a marker, draw a circle for each hole.

  2. Step 2

Cut out holes with a keyhole saw; shave edges smooth with a scraper if desired (no interior scraping is required).

  3. Step 3

Fill holes with rubber mice. Listen for screaming neighbors.

I wanted to let you know, I made 4 of these pumpkins this year along with other ideas and everyone (175) kids and then some loved my yard. Of course a lot of smaller children would not come up to my door without a parent, I had scary music playing, a graveyard, a "crash witch" and spiders, rats, mice, etc all over my front porch and yard.
