Project

Mushroom Print

Use basic mushrooms to make this distinctive decorative print.

Materials

  • Cardstock
  • Mushrooms
  • Knife
  • Bowls
  • Spray fixative
  • Heavy books

Steps

  1. Step 1

Remove mushroom stem and any part of the mushroom that will block spore release with a knife.

  2. Step 2

Place mushrooms on cardstock paper on a flat surface and cover with a bowl (this prevents a draft from blowing away spore dust). Let sit overnight.

  3. Step 3

Remove bowls carefully, and fix prints with spray fixative. Allow to dry. Put another piece of paper on top of print, and press with heavy books to remove wrinkles.

Could the child personalize the paper or matte, allow it dry before prodeeding with the mushroom prints?
