  1. Using Leftover Cookie Dough

    When scraps of dough get left behind after cookies hit the oven, turn them into a quick and tasty "streusel" topping for other baked goods, says pastry chef Chris Broberg.

    Form the extra raw cookie dough into a ball and freeze. Then, simply grate the frozen dough with a box grater over muffins, coffee cakes, cobblers, or other sweet treats.

    Here's another idea: Instead of freezing the dough, try baking the leftover dough strips then crushing them up to use as a crunchy topping for ice cream sundaes.

  3. Heart-Shaped Eggs and Toast

    Why settle for ordinary eggs and toast when you can show your love with this version? 

    Using a 3-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, remove the center of a thick slice of bread, and toast it. Melt 1 1/2 teaspoons butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Place bread slice in skillet, and cook until underside is lightly browned. Add another 1 1/2 teaspoons butter, and flip bread. Fit cookie cutter, coated with cooking spray, in bread's cutout heart, and crack an egg into cutter. Cover skillet, and cook until egg is set, 2 to 3 minutes. Use tongs to remove cutter. Serve with toasted heart for dipping into yolk.

  4. Honey Elixir

    Long used in folk remedies for numerous ailments, honey can help quiet coughs. We mix it with cider vinegar, which some say also soothes throats.

    Mix 2 parts honey and 1 part cider vinegar (we like Bragg's Organic). Heat in microwave or on stove until warm. Sip it slowly, reheating as needed.
