Marzipan Starfish with Graham Cracker Sand How-To

Tools and Materials

Cupcakes (any flavor)
Swiss Meringue Buttercream
Finely ground graham cracker crumbs
Box grater

1. Frost tops of cupcakes with buttercream, then dip in graham cracker crumbs to cover. Sprinkle with more crumbs.

2. Roll a heaping teaspoon of marzipan into a ball. Flatten slightly into a disk, then shape into a 5-pointed star. Gently press star against small holes of a box grater for texture. Place starfish on a cupcake, textured side up.

    I teach 2nd grade, and for Open House we have an ocean theme. I can't wait to make these cupcakes, the kids will love them! Is there a less expensive option than marzipan for the starfish??
