Project

Mirror Glow Eyes

Glow-in-the-dark glitter gives this Halloween decoration its one-of-a-kind look.

Materials

  • Eye template 1
  • Eye template 2
  • Eye template 3
  • Any frame (old or new) with glass intact
  • Spray adhesive
  • Glitter in desired color for frame (Martha used black)
  • Fine-tipped bottle of craft glue
  • Black glitter
  • Glow-in-the-dark glitter
  • Silver mylar

Steps

  1. Step 1

With glass removed, coat entire frame with spray adhesive and cover with desired glitter color.

  2. Step 2

Download and print eye template, scaling to desired size. Place template under the frame glass. Trace eye shape onto top of glass with a fine-tipped bottle of craft glue. Sprinkle with black glitter and let dry for a few hours.

  3. Step 3

When dry, turn glass over, and fill in area that is considered the white of the eye with the craft glue. Cover with glow-in-the-dark glitter and let dry.

  4. Step 4

To create the "mirror," cut a piece of mylar to the size of the backing board. Adhere to backing board with spray adhesive.

  5. Step 5

Insert glass, black glitter side facing out, and mirror into frame. Secure pieces in place, and hang.

@J-Leigh- Try to put it under a light for awhile that may make it work. At least i hope it does. I've heard with alot of glow in the dark things thats what you have to do. Let me know if it works.

I made this using the Martha Stewart glow in the dark glitter, and it doesn't glow. At all. Not even a little. Cute idea, but huge disappointment.

I used this for my 2009 Halloween Goulish Chili bash! Everyone enjoyed seeing it when going back and forth to the kitchen!

The large frame is from IKEA. I took the same frame and took out the glass and backing and inserted black chicken wire. It now hangs above my jewelry armoire as a place to hang all of my earrings!

this is an awesome craft! When waiting for the black glitter to dry. Save time and place it back in the frame. (it will never touch anything) Then you can do the glow in the dark glitter without messing up the other side.
