Ornaments with photos of your friends and family are a great way to decorate your Christmas tree.
Tools and Materials
Photographs
Ornament templates (template 1, template 2, template 3, template 4, template 5)
Heavy-duty (80-pound) card stock
Pencil
Scissors or utility knife
Hole punch
White glue
Glitter
Wax paper
Dresden embellishment
Picture-Frame Ornaments How-To
1. Download and print ornament templates (template 1, template 2, template 3, template 4, template 5).
2. Trace template shapes onto heavy-duty card stock.
3. Cut out two identical shapes.
4. Punch both ornament shapes at top.
5. Apply diluted white glue solution (2 parts glue to 1 part water) to surfaces of both shapes.
6. Apply glitter to glue.
7. Set aside to dry; cover with a sheet of wax paper and weigh down with a heavy book to keep from curling.
8. Using a utility knife, cut an X into the center of the ornament.
9. Use a pencil to curl back points, creating a square opening.
10. Glue photo to unglittered side of flat shape.
11. Glue both halves together, sandwiching photo.
12. Thread ribbon through hole and glue on Dresden embellishment.

Hi bluejay017, Dresdens are die cut metallic paper embellishments with embossed designs. You can glue them to most anything, like these adorable little picture frame ornaments. The best ones are those from the original, centuries-old German dies. You can find them here:

What are Dresden embellishments? Seems important to the project, but didn't see it in video and don't see explanation online anywhere!?
When I did a search on the website for 'christmas ornament template' it brought up this article and several others, this one was first on the list and to the right it had an option to click on the 'article' or 'video' try the article... it has clickable links [template 1, template 2, etc....] to the templates you can download/print (or in my case... trace....) since I have no printer *sniff* Hope this helps everyone who is looking for the templates!
I made the ornament shown on the video, I think that was template 5, and I love it!
But where are the instructions for the other 4 templates?
These are cute, and I really wanted to try them, but my computer would not download the templates. None of them came up when clicked on. Any one have any ideas of how to get them?
I can download, but not print the templates. I've downloaded the updated version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, and still nothing. It simply locks up my computer. Guess I'll have to freehand them
you can close the video window and the written directions are there. Click on the template link, you must have adobe to view it so you may have to download adobe if you're having problems
I can't get the template for this for the life of me someone please help me! This is driving me nuts.
i love this idea, i think that handmade ornaments on a tree, are classic, reminds me of my grandmother.
