If December is characterized by buzzing get-togethers, cheery Champagne toasts, and lots of gift-giving, January offers the chance to come in from the cold, get cozy at home, and give back to yourself. Sitting down to a warm bowl of macaroni and cheese, a fragrant helping of chicken potpie, or a familiar cup of chocolate pudding is a tasty way to do just that. Alas, traditional comfort foods don't always jibe with the urge many of us have after New Year's to seek out more healthful meals. Perhaps it's time to rethink the classics we've known and loved for ages. Satisfying foods cooked with a lighter touch? A comforting thought, indeed.
