Saving Gas Money

The Martha Stewart Show, December 2008

Make sure your car tires are fully inflated. If they're not, you could be losing 10 percent of your gasoline. Given the current economic situation, that is a lot of money! So before you head off on any journey, be sure to check the correct air pressure for your car's tires.

- The correct air pressure, whether it is for a new or older vehicle, can be found in the owner's manual.

- You can also find it on the decal positioned on the driver's door jam, where it locks.

- Be sure to check the tire pressure when your tires are cold. A good time is early morning, after your car has been idle overnight.

- You will also be helping to preserve the environment, as less fuel consumption results in less carbon dioxide being emitted into the atmosphere.
