Graduation Banner

Easy to fashion from card stock and felt letters, this festive garland makes a memorable congratulatory banner for a recent graduate. You can hang it in front of a buffet table, from a mantle, or on a window.

Tools and Materials
Olfa circle cutter (CMP-1, model #9911)
Card stock (5 standard letter-size sheets)
Adhesive-backed felt letters, 1- or 2-inch size
1/16-inch hole punch
Craft needle
8 feet of clear elastic

Graduation Banner How-To
1. Cut 15 circles (each one 4 3/4 inches in diameter) from the card stock. (Martha uses five letter-size sheets, each in a different color, to yield 15 circles, which will spell out the word "Congratulations.") Stack the circles in fives. Using the 1/16-inch hole punch, make small holes at two positions on one of the stacks, one hole at 11 o'clock and the other at 1 o'clock. Repeat process for remaining stacks.

2. Affix each letter to the center of a circle. Using a craft needle, string the clear elastic through one circle at a time, tying a knot at the top of each circle to secure its position. Continue until all the letters are strung.

Resources
We found felt letters and sheets of adhesive-backed felt at CPE Felt. Additional felt letters are available at Craft King. The card stock was from Serendipity.
