Before a children's party, it's always a good idea to plan a few activities designed to keep the young guests entertained. One idea is to fashion silk flowers into festive garlands -- a project Martha's young friends undertake today using brightly colored ranunculus "blooms."
Tools and Materials
Silk flowers
Craft glue, such as Sobo
Flower Garlands How-To
1. Remove the bloom from the stem and peel off the layers of petals one by one.
2. Apply a dab of glue to the tip of one flower petal, and attach that petal to another petal. Continue until the garland reaches the desired length. For a variation, you can place the larger petals in the middle of the garland and build out in both directions with the small petals on the ends.

I thought other readers would enjoy an activity I got at the botanical gardens. Have you or your children "Ever Seen a Plant Move When You Tickle It?" If you wanted to share your love for nature with your children, here is an activity I have done with mine. This may change the way you and the kids react to plants for ever. Imagine giving your children some seeds. Having them watch them sprout and grow. Then shortly after the second leaves appear they tickle the plant and it moves its branches down and closes its leaves! Give them more than a gift; give them a learning experience they will never forget. I found information and a TickleMe Plant Greenhouse at Http://www.ticklemeplant.com
