Gilding Eggs

Materials & Tools
Eggs, all varieties
Gold-leaf paper (3 to 4 sheets per egg)
Water-based gold size (adhesive material)
Brush
Cotton gloves
Cheesecloth
Polyacrylic

Technique
1. Blow out eggs.

2. With a brush, cover an egg completely with water-based gold size. Let dry for about 15 minutes.

3. Take a piece of paper-backed gold leaf, and gently press the gold leaf onto egg surface. Continue with additional sheets of leaf until egg is completely covered.

4. Once egg is covered, gently press leaf with cheesecloth to even out the texture and gently rub off excess leaf.

5. Seal with a coat of polyacrylic.
