Resources: Orange bulbs are available at hardware, lighting, or Halloween-themed stores. All other materials are available at crafts stores.
Materials
- Lamp with large, plain, light-colored shade
- Alien template
- Bat template
- Draculina template
- Frankenstein template
- Jack-o'-lantern template
- Pencil
- Black construction paper
- Scissors
- Double-sided tape
- 60-watt orange light bulb
Steps

Step 1 of 3
Remove lampshade from stand.

Print and cut out templates. Trace template silhouettes onto black construction paper. Cut shapes from paper. Adhere black shapes to inside of shade with double-sided tape.

Replace bulb in lamp base with 60-watt orange bulb, and reconnect shade to base.
This are great for luminaries too! I used light green tissue paper an old flower vase turned up side down for the Alien. I used mod podge to stick the tissue to the vase. Next I cut out the templates and placed them on top of the tissue and added a top coat of mod podge to seal it. I used red tissue paper with Dracula. Thanks for all the great ideas!
