Introduction

Childhood friends can chip in to send a care package with a hometown theme. Fill it with icons of the area: This New York box has a toy taxicab, an "I Love New York" T-shirt, toddler-about-town shoes, and more for baby, plus black-and-white cookies (a local favorite), and Statue of Liberty postcards for Mom.

To label gifts, cut out pictures of each participant, and glue them to key tags from an office-supply store; fasten to presents so she knows who gave what. A group photo greets her when she opens the box.
