Button-Heart Cuff Links

Introduction

Let him wear your heart on his sleeve with a set of symbolic cuff links, fashioned from mother-of-pearl buttons and silk beading cord.

Materials

  • Silk beading cord

Steps

  1. Step 1

Holding 2 buttons 1/4 inch apart, run the threaded needle back and forth through the buttons' holes several times.

  2. Step 2

Enclose the center strands of thread by sewing about a dozen blanket stitches close together. Run needle back through completed blanket stitches; trim thread close to starting point.

  3. Step 3

Repeat with remaining 2 buttons to complete the set of cuff links.

What a great idea for personalizing cuffs on the groomsmen in a wedding.

Women can certainly wear them, they'd look very sweet with a crisp white oxford. Think of your mom!

hmmmmm...I'm from Oklahoma, and I'm not sure how many guys around here would wear mother-of-pearl HEART cuff-links! On a pink shirt. They would be nice for a woman's blouse. This craft could be adapted, however, to use a more masculine looking button...nice to know how to make them.

Does anyone know what the little heart candies are in this same issue on page 127? I would love to find or make a recipe but I don't even know where to start. Thanks!
