Stone Spa Mat

This mat was created by taping together several smaller stone mats, available at garden centers.

  • Stone mats
  • Clear duct tape
  • Twill tape, 1 3/4 inches wide and as long as the perimeter of your mat plus 4 inches
  • Fabric glue
  • Needle and thread (optional)

  1. Step 1

Turn the mats upside down, and place them next to one another on a work surface to create a mat of the desired size. Use the duct tape to secure the interior edges.

  2. Step 2

Lay twill tape on an exterior edge of mat, leaving an inch of overhang along entire side. Use duct tape to secure. Fold corner for a mitered edge, and continue to next side. Repeat. Secure corners with fabric glue or a blind stitch.

Looks very pretty.. I collect rocks and pebbles when on vacation from the Great Lakes, I make birdhouses and lighthouses from them. Are these slippery? Seems to me they would be a bit slippery. Maybe a good idea for decorative use only

I hope the stone mats are smoother than they appear in the photo...looks like a good way to get a stone bruise to me!
