Introduction

Beautiful and durable, crepe paper lends itself to countless applications. In fact, a strip of crepe paper conforms perfectly to an egg's shape. Add crepe ears to an egg and watch it turn into a bunny.

These adorable table decorations can double as place cards; write names on one side of each egg with a marker.

Materials

  • Bunny ears template
  • Scissors
  • Crepe paper
  • Glue
  • Blown-out Easter eggs
  • Paint pen
  • Pom-poms
  • Mini muffin-cup liners

Steps

  1. Step 1 of 3

Using our template as a guide, cut 2 ears (in direction of grain) from a folded sheet of crepe paper. Fold back base of each ear, apply glue to underside, and adhere to egg. Draw eyes with a paint pen. To make a nose: Glue a pom-pom over one of the holes used to blow out the egg. To make a tail: Glue a larger pom-pom over the other hole.

  2. Step 2 of 3

To make a nose: Glue a pom-pom over one of the holes used to blow out the egg. To make a tail: Glue a larger pom-pom over the other hole.

  3. Step 3 of 3

Arrange a fringed strip of crepe paper "grass" in a mini muffin-cup liner; place bunny in liner.

Couldn't you use plastic eggs? They come in so many different pretty colors and won't break as easy.

I've seen crepe paper at some of the Dollar Stores around our area before. I can remember making all kinds of fun projects from crepe paper when I was a kid! Lots of different variations of flowers...it was so much fun, and really easy to work with. The crinkly texture makes for very nice, believable flowers.

NeoMastiffMom - crepe paper is basically what party streamers are made out of, so if you look in the party section, there should be sheets of crepe paper.

Will crepe paper streamers work if they are big enough for the project?

Yes, agree, crepe paper is the hardest thing to find. I also went to Michael's Joann's and Party supply stores. I ended up using gift tissue paper.

Where-O- where can I purchase Crepe paper. I checked my local Micheal's and the clerk had no idea what crepe paper is. I remember it come in sheets and in packages similar to tissue paper. Can anyone name me a source.

I made the Chubby bunnies over the weekend and they came out perfect! Fun, very easy and zero cost to make. I love them and have them around my breakfast table.
