Color copies of photographs (enlarged or reduced in scale); cut into 2-inch squares
Card stock
Colored paper
Scissors
Craft glue
Bone folder
1 yard of thin ribbon
Family Tree Card How-To
Tent Card
Fold a 6-by-12-inch sheet of card stock in half crosswise; the fold is the top of the card. Glue a 5-inch square of colored paper to the center of the front of the card. Glue one photo onto each colored square, as shown. Glue a length of ribbon around edge of card, and tie off at the last corner.
Accordion Card
Fold a 6-by-24-inch sheet of card stock at 6-inch intervals. Use a bone folder to create sharp creases. Glue a photo on each accordion fold, as shown. Frame each photo with four lengths of ribbon; affix with craft glue. Write each person's name under her image.

Our local Michael's craft store has 24" card stock in the (where else) Martha Stewart section. :-) They'd probably also have it at a "real" art supply place, such as Aaron Brothers Art Mart or online from [filtered word] Blick Art Supplies.
Where do you find 24 inch cardstock? and I agree, these ideas are too close to the hoildays/events for which they are intended. And if anyone from Martha reads these comments, better illustrations and explanations of the steps on a lot of your crafts would be helpful. I'm pretty crafty and even I get confused sometimes.

Hi, good to see a "family tree" project which is adoption-friendly . . . Maybe sometime you could add this idea of how a project is inclusive--it means a lot to families! . . . This is how I might think of this project: A handmade card with photographs depicting different generations shows that the things mothers and daughters have in common transcend the passing styles of the times and life circumstances. . .

My mother has been gone for 40 years but this idea will be wonderful for my four grown sons for their birthdays. Great idea.
Not only craft ideas to "after the fact", so are decorating for holidays, holiday menus and recipes, seed starting, etc. Regarding save for next year; often I just forget. Considering other family activities and celebrations, a month ahead would be helpful. grammababy
I agree with the previous comment. My cards are already in the mail, so it's impossible to do this until next year. All the craft ideas are wonderful but in this busy day and age, I personally need more time to purchase the materials needed and then find the time to make the craft.
I wish that these Craft Ideas could come farther ahead of the actual holidays so that they could be made for the current year. Getting ideas like May day baskets on May day is a good idea too late. Remembering for next year is sometimes difficult.
Although too late for this year, I will do it next year. I like the idea for the wedding decorations comment too. It would be great to do two, one for Mom and one for Dad for a baby shower, depicting them over time.
